(Solved by Humans)-A note to all Art Appreciation students concerning the PowerPoint
Question
A note to all Art Appreciation students concerning the PowerPoint project:
Please disregard this message if you have submitted your PowerPoint.
Project due in PowerPoint Dropbox by May 9, 11:00 pm.
Please refer to the PowerPoint Instructions listed in Module 15 for complete details (including grading rubric).
What are you supposed to do? Choose an artist of historical significance (can be from any time period). You will need to be able to find images and information about your artist from various sources. It might be simplest to choose an artist from the text. You may also write about an artist of your own choosing. Please email me if you are unsure of whether your chosen artist is appropriate for this project.
You will write an introduction of at least 150 words. The introduction will include the artist's name and what parts of the artist's creative output that you will be featuring in your exhibition. You could include biographical and historical information and discuss the major themes of the artist's work. If the artist is part of a movement such as Impressionism, be sure to talk about that.
The actual exhibition should include 10 separate images of your artist's work and at least 75 words of text for each image. You will need to identify the title, date, and medium for each image; these are not included in the 75 word count. The best way to organize the body of the PowerPoint would be to show an image on a slide, then include your written information on the following slide and repeat the process nine more times. It would be best to focus on one period in the artist's creative life, but you could also do an overview of the artist's whole career. Please refer to the instructions as there are certain artists that you may not write about (Matisse and Kollwitz). When you write about the artworks, try to cover these topics:
1. The artist's intended purpose and functions for creating the works.
2. How were the elements and principles of design used?
3. Influences: What influence did the works have on culture, society, politics, and other artists?
Did other cultures and artists have an influence on your artists's work?
You may also include any other information that you find helpful in understanding the artist's work and style.
Writing the conclusion: no specific word count, this is just a way to make your final points about the artist and you may include your own reflections here. A short paragraph of four or five sentences will suffice.
Be sure to cite your sources. You will need at least three sources. Include all sources for your written research as well as for images. Submit your work according to the instructions. No late submissions will be accepted. Feel free to email with further questions.
